Renewable Information

In the past years SWCE has seen a significant increase of interest in renewable energy from our members.  Many are finding wind and/or solar energy attractive due to potential economical benefits and the low harmful impacts on the environment.  SWCE was first introduced to renewable energy systems on the distribution system 25 plus years ago.  While the concept of renewable generation has not changed, the technology and programs have.  Click on the following .pdf's for more information about Cogeneration: Solar And Wind Generators: Cogeneration Brochure 2011.pdf, SWCE Att1DG Application Process.pdf, SWCE Att2 Interconnection Requirement.pdf, SWCE Interconnection Application.pdf and SWCE Att5 Interconnection Agreement.pdf.

GO GREEN with Wellspring Wind Energy Program

Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric Members wishing to participate in the Wellspring wind energy program can fill out and return this form Wellspring Member (PDF) to SWCE, PO Box 485, Owatonna MN 55060.  Wellspring is an optional renewable program that provides consumers with the opportunity to purchase wind-generated electricity, which is fed into the state's electric system or grid.  Customers won't be able to distinguish whether the electrons flowing into their homes were generated by wind power or fossil fuels, but customers can be assured their commitment to Wellspring renewable energy will help lessen the reliance on fossil fuels.  Program participants can decide how much wind energy they want to buy in 100 kWh blocks.  If you choose, you can purchase an amount up to your normal monthly consumption.  For example, if your normal usage is 1,000 kWh per month, then you could purchase up to 10 blocks.  The purchase is in addition to your normal electric rate.  After one year you may unsubscribe by contacting SWCE.
